Report on ADEFFI Postgraduate Symposium 2010
Saturday April 10th, Trinity College Dublin
This year’s postgraduate event
took place in Trinity College Dublin on Saturday April 10th. Nine
papers were presented, in three non-themed panels. These papers came
from postgraduates working on French and Francophone Literature,
Textual & Visual Studies, Visual Arts, Linguistics and History. The
selection was therefore representative of the wide variety of research
interests amongst the postgraduate community in French and Francophone
Studies in Ireland. There was a good attendance on the day and
stimulating discussions followed each panel. The event concluded with a
round table that addressed key concerns for postgraduates in the
finishing stages of their doctoral theses in French and Francophone
Studies, such as the current jobs market and opportunities for further
research.
On behalf of
all participants and delegates at the symposium, I would like to thank
ADEFFI for funding and supporting this annual event, since it provides
an excellent opportunity for postgraduates based in institutions
throughout Ireland to come together both to present their work and
maintain a vital French and Francophone Studies postgraduate community
here.
Following two
successful ADEFFI Postgraduate Study Days in Dublin, ADEFFI now looks
forward to its 2011 postgraduate event, details of which will be
announced in December 2010.
